FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As a hospital CEO, I’m not sure that our current staff can add one more service line to their workload.  What’s the time commitment for us?

For hospital CEOs pressed for time, Pain Management Group can provide increased revenue without large demands on the time of your administrative and clinical staff. We are basically a “turn key” operation, supplying plans and equipment recommendations, registration and billing services, and pain treatment center staffing at the local level. Our partner group, Midwest Pain Physicians, recruits top notch pain management specialists from the country’s best medical schools and internship programs.

What about our primary care doctors? Will they “lose” patients to the pain management physicians?

Actually, we’ve seen some ideal partnerships form between busy primary care physicians and our pain management specialists. Patients suffering from chronic pain, typically require a much longer appointment time than most patients who seek primary care. Many physicians have received little training in the pain management field, and are often uncomfortable prescribing pain medication (narcotics). The pain management specialists from Midwest Pain Physicians, respect the role of the primary care doctor, and keep that physician “in the loop” during the course of treatment. The primary care doctor can free up time to see more patients; the pain management physician can focus on the cause and treatment of the patient’s pain, and the patient benefits greatly from the collaboration.

What kind of growth can I anticipate?

Our model indicates that, assuming a primary market area of at least 100,000, net revenues would run about $1.8 million the first year, incrementally increasing to more than $9 million by Year 5. Again, downstream revenue is significant, with increased volumes for your hospital in lab, radiology, pharmacy, and imaging.

What do employers think about pain management?
Wouldn’t Occupational Health offer the same type of service?

We believe that returning patients to a “normal” active life requires a physician who is knowledgeable on all aspects of pain, including possible causes, and the most appropriate treatment. Midwest Pain Physicians makes every effort to recruit doctors who are board certified in pain management as well as anesthesiology. Because our pain treatment centers can often expedite “return to work,” and provide the most cost-effective treatment, employers see us as a partner, working toward the good health of their employees.

How can I learn more?

We would be happy to arrange a meeting with you and your staff. At that time, we could provide information on how a Pain Treatment Center could be customized to fit your hospital and your market.
