Dr. Ned Lakshmipathy, Physician Founder
Dr. Ned founded Midwest Pain Treatment Center in 1999. As he began his practice, it became apparent that hospitals needed to reorganize their service offerings and facilities to better meet the needs of the community and fellowship-trained pain physicians. In 2001, Dr. Ned formed Pain Management Group, sister corporation to Midwest Pain Treatment Center, with the goal of creating a systematic, process-driven approach to developing and operating comprehensive, hospital-based, outpatient management centers.
Dr. Ned is board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management and completed his ACGME-accredited Fellowship in pain management and anesthesiology residency at the New England Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Ned did his internal medicine internship and residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT.
John Bookmyer, Chief Executive Officer
John brings a combination of financial and strategic planning expertise to Pain Management Group. John has more than 20 years of experience in hospital administration and healthcare consulting, developing partnerships with physicians to expand hospital offerings, facilities and service lines.
In 1994, John joined Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) in Findlay, Ohio as Chief Information Officer and Director of Business Development. He advanced rapidly to positions of increased responsibility, including Vice President of Business Development, Senior Vice President of Administration and, ultimately, Executive Vice President, COO and CFO of BVHS.
In March 2009, John joined Pain Management Group. PMG is expected to double in size this year.
John is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and the University of Findlay where he earned an MBA.
Brad Hecker, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer
Brad joined Pain Management Group in 2010 and, as Chief Financial Officer, oversees PMG’s financial management business process. Brad has more than 19 years of healthcare industry experience in financial management and operations.
Prior to joining Pain Management Group, Mr. Hecker was Director of Joint Venture and Performance Management at OhioHealth, a system of not-for-profit, faith-based hospitals and healthcare organizations serving patients in central Ohio. As Director of Finance Operations at OhioHealth, he also directed financial operations for the Ambulatory Division and streamlined long-range financial planning and financial reporting processes.
Brad earned his MBA from Kent State University and his BBA from The Ohio State University.
Christy Apple, Director of Planning and Marketing
Christy has over 15 years of healthcare experience specializing in
strategic planning, volume forecasting, market analyses and business
development. Christy served as the Director of Planning for 10 years at
Mount Carmel Health System in Central Ohio. Prior to that, she
worked in market research and as a market analyst for a Medicare
Managed Care plan. Christy joined PMG in February 2013 and will focus
on the growth of new and existing business.
Christy earned a degree in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University and an MBA from Ashland University.
Jenn Reese, Regional Director of Operations
Jenn Reese joined Dr. Ned at Pain Management Group in 2004 as Director of Operations for the very first comprehensive pain management center. In an effort to create a comprehensive, process-driven solution, Jenn was instrumental in starting and managing the operations of four other joint ventures.
As part of her responsibilities, Jenn assists in the hiring and training of employees and also oversees patient care protocols to ensure hospital compliance. Jenn also assists in the financial decision making, planning and budgeting.
Sara Darr, Regional Director of Operations
Sara joined the team at Pain Management Group in 2006 and plays a critical role in the start-up and management of our newest pain clinics.
Sara brings a strong nursing background to each clinic, as well as experience in management and hospital compliance. Her nursing experience spans 12 years, with five of those years being a nurse manager. She also has experience in community health nursing and surgery.
Sara graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate Degree in Registered Nursing and currently oversees the operations of three of PMG’s pain clinics.
Julianne Renz, Regional Director of Operations
Julianne has more than 19 years of experience in the Central Ohio healthcare industry including strategic planning, program growth and development, process improvement, marketing and performance management. Prior to joining Pain Management Group, she was Business Development Manager for OhioHealth, responsible for physician and volume acquisition and new business development of a new outpatient medical campus.
Julianne earned her MBA from Franklin University in Columbus, OH and her BS in Allied Health, Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University. She is a Six Sigma Black Belt and is active in her church and several community organizations.
Sammie Hall, Regional Director of Operations
Sammie joined PMG in 2012. He brings with him a strong medical acumen, years of operational management and leadership experience with staff/physician team building, medical logistics planning on an international level and a “can-do” attitude. He served 24 years in the U.S. Navy as a Special Forces Independent Duty Medic/Physician Extender for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Teams, Under Water Construction Teams and Special Warfare Teams. After retiring from the service in 2007, Sammie joined OhioHealth in Columbus Ohio where he served as the Assistant Director of Operation for Occupational Health at Honda of North America Manufacturing in Marysville Ohio and later managed multiple family practice offices for the Medical Specialty Foundation of OhioHealth.
Sammie earned a BSHS in Health Care Management from Touro University in Cypress, California while serving in the military and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program through Trident University.
Lisa Eidelberg, Regional Director of Operations
Lisa has over 11 years of healthcare industry experience including management, program development, strategic planning, operations, physician recruiting, communications, marketing and sales. Prior to joining Pain Management Group in October 2012, Lisa was the Director of Membership Development and Business Partners for the Ohio State Medical Association located in Central Ohio. She was primarily responsible for the overall recruitment and retention of physician members and directed the activities of the field sales staff and the business partner development staff. Before becoming the Director of Membership Development, Lisa also spent several years as the Membership Operations Manager and Senior Account Manager where she oversaw the operations of the entire membership process and was the main contact for over 400 of the largest physician group practices and clinics in Ohio.
Jeanie Smeets, Regional Director of Operations
Jeanie joined PMG in January 2013 as PMG expanded into Michigan. She has over 20 years of diverse Nursing experience both clinically and in nursing management. She has managed the startups of an Outpatient Pain Management center as well as a Family Practice Residency Program for Wayne State University.
Having inpatient nursing management experience as a House Director for a large urban hospital, Jeanie understands the challenges of coordinating patient care from the inpatient to outpatient areas. Her clinical experience includes; Pediatric ICU, Nutrition Support, Pain Management Family Practice and Internal Medicine Residency programs. Jeanie brings knowledge of Process and Quality improvement, EMR implementation and Operational Management.
Jenna Wilkins, Physician Recruiter
Jenna has been with Pain Management Group since January 2010. As Physician Recruiter, Jenna is responsible for contacting and pre-screening physician candidates to ensure only candidates of the highest caliber join the PMG team. She assists the physicians to streamline the interview process and collaborates with the rest of the PMG team to promise a long-term relationship for each of our new physicians.
Jenna graduated from the University of Findlay with a BFA and Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.
Melissa Fletcher, Executive Assistant
Melissa has been with Pain Management Group since 2011. As Executive Assistant, Melissa is also responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes operations that occur. Melissa provides administrative support to the PMG executive team, including scheduling meetings, ensuring that each of PMG’s new physicians is credentialed within their hospital and insurance companies.
Prior to joining PMG, Melissa held various roles at Solomon Software, where she was employed for nine years. Her roles included sales, business development and inside support. Melissa has also worked in sales and was an Assistant Executive Director within the Assisted Living Campus, and the home-health care arena.
Melissa holds an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and is a Certified Senior Adviser.
Brandon Shilling, Government Affairs and Business Development
Brandon joined the team at Pain Management Group in 2011 and plays a role in supporting the business development aspect of PMG.
Brandon comes to PMG from 4th District Congressman Jim Jordan’s office, where he gained experience in government policy and the legislative process. He brings this experience to PMG where he assists in keeping PMG informed of new legislative policies relating to health care.
Brandon is a graduate of the University of Findlay and Taylor University where he earned an MBA.
Debra Talbott, Executive Assistant
Debra studied business administration at Indiana University. She joined Pain Management Group in 2012 as an executive assistant and provides support to the CEO and other members of the administrative and executive team.
Prior to joining PMG, Debra was in medical practice management where she gained valuable front and back office business operations experience in medical and non-medical settings, Debra has certifications in medical insurance billing and medical terminology.
